your name escapes my tongue as a prayer would, rosary beads simply a countdown to when i see you next
church pews sanctified as you kneel next to me, the Eucharist christened as the priest places it on your tongue
running my finger through your hair as Magdalene must have, anointing it with perfume and the unspoken love that seeped into my bloodstream months ago, through my fingertips that traced my name onto your palms. that must’ve been what sealed my being onto yours, a binding of which witchcraft knows nothing of, of which the essence of God permeates, forever and ever
i am reminded of how metallic love tastes, as i bite down on my tongue when you leave
i am reminded of it’s decadence when we share a dessert. it’s simplicity when we walk to 7/11 together, simmering for months and marinated with shared joy for each other
love is a burst of flavour in my mouth that i will savour for the rest of my life.
