under the moonlit sky, a snake sheds its old skin. sweet honey drips from her tongue, or perhaps, it is venom so potent it could dissolve your ego self. a young boy follows the snake, tiptoeing around the decaying leaves, with a look of extreme fascination in his hazel eyes. his face is smeared with the blood of the unholiest pomegranates. on his forearm, a tattoo of a snake shedding its skin comes alive as the moon shines its dreamy rays on the boy & the serpent. for a brief moment, the two make eye contact as an air of strange familiarity envelops them. in her eyes, the boy sees a face. the face of god. but it’s also his own. his mother’s. his father’s. his lover’s. a stranger’s. a flower’s. a lion’s. in silent confirmation, the boy bows his head in reverence. the snake rears her head tall, her face painted in shades of the sweetest smile, hisses a blessing only the boy understands & almost imperceptibly, slithers into the darkness of night. the queen of death is also a magician of love. the boy’s eyes, damp with emotion, reflect the moon’s soft gaze. an audacious tear starts to roll down his scarlet cheek, as his heart melts into euphoria.
