Two Stories
Age 13

Cool boys are the best. They're the boys who play blue guitars during class assemblies. They sit near you and tell you jokes. They have perfect hair and also like Anirudh's music. They walk with you to the art class before heading home. They are NOT in the same Harry Potter House as you. They do not seem to notice that every girl always gives up her Maggi for them. They play cricket and basketball AND football AND kabaddi during PT. They have cool friends who sneak them away between classes. They always hang out at the sandwich shop on the weekends before exams. They always catch the new film in theaters within days of release.

Age 16

Smart boys are the best. They're the ones who taught you how to draw a cube in 2nd grade when you missed that class. These boys are the ones who take the share-auto with you to keep discussing theorems for tomorrow's test. They dream of becoming the world's first trillionaire-genius-extraordinaire. They have dimples that drown you when they giggle. They do not come for excursions because they have IIT coaching. They don't know what Spotify is because they're too busy solving 12th grade maths. They push you to apply for JEE, just in case you wanna do engineering as well. They read only non-fiction and are amazingly productive. They're the ones who leave the city and you behind to become the intellectuals you've always known them as.

Age 19

Mature guys are the best. They don't treat you like you're a child, fresh out the womb. They are the ones that give you advice for internships and major projects even though you're in your second year. They know more about dating than you do, and that's great for you. You get to observe and learn. They're usually your first kiss, while you're not theirs, so they can teach you to be better at it. They're so protective of you that they protect you from nazar everytime they don't bring you up to their friends. They let you talk about your latest read because they don't get the time to read after work. They pay for their share during dates and expect you to pay your share as well so that you learn about finances. They put you onto new, foreign cinema. They introduce you to sad, obscure bands. They buy you new lipstick and dermaplaners so that you look like a proper woman.

Age 22

Kind men are the best. These are the ones that talk to you in soothing tones, always reassuring if you doubt it. They remember the name of the movie that you rewatched 40 times when you were 7. They make sure you know it's alright that you're running late and go ahead and order an iced tea for you. They have kooky interests like model building or WWI and grow into it. They have concrete goals for a future and they want need you in it. They get back into reading just to understand you better from your recommendations. They carry themselves with the knowledge that they're great at what they do. They know you have 120 playlists and aim to make it 150. They have friends who care for them and respect them. They love to learn and love to teach. They look like they belong with the sunshine that pours from their smiles.
